Each coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality. The coins reverse incorporates an inner panel design of a Rough-Scaled Python detailed in pure Australian opal.
The outer panel of the coin depicts a collection of fern fronds. The design includes the inscription ROUGH SCALED PYTHON, the 2015 year-date, and The Perth Mints traditional P mintmark. Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the coins obverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination.
